Fun and Games Job?

Library Director? People often say to me whenin winter, sweeping sidewalks and watering shrubs
learning that I am a librarian that it must be funin summer, borrowing books from other libraries
working in a library and just reading books all thefor interlibrary loans, picking up mail daily at the
time. How little they know.As a library directorpost office, trying to keep people quiet so others
some of my duties include: buying books andcan enjoy the library and helping patrons find
supplies, keeping records of all library transactions,books. We also help people on the computers,
checking books in and out, shelving books,clean the bathrooms, wash windows, set up
attending meetings and conferences andtables and chairs, vacuum the carpets, empty the
week-long seminars, calling on overdue books andwastebaskets, put trash out for garbage day,
sending reminders, doing bookwork totals daily,dust, clean and sweep entry.As we say at our
monthly and yearly for statistics and reports,meetings: "We wear many hats and small town
publicity, organizing and overseeing various librarylibrarians' jobs are a labor of love." You can prove
programs, which include Summer Reading,that just by looking at our salaries.Marge has been
preschool story time, book discussion groups,writing all her life and has published two humor
family night, teen night, coordinating volunteers,books. She is a library director in a small town in
weeding out and discarding old and out of dateSouthern Idaho and has just turned 62. She
books, shoveling snow, and spreading snow-meltwrites a local column called, "Granny's Journal.
