There is a list of obvious items that are essential to a good camping trip. Obviously we need a tent, camper, tree hammock or something to sleep in and keep things protected from the weather. We need prepare for an adequate supply of drinking water, whether this means we pack in our own, or we pack a water purification system and camp near a water source.
